MY POSITION IN CHRIST:

Ephesians chapters 1 and 2

When you became a Christian, God made you a new person (2 Cor. 5:17, Gal. 2:20) God says that we all are very special to Himself (Eph. 2:10). In this study, you will look at a few things God says in His Word about where you stand with God in Christ. Start by reading the first chapter of Ephesians and the second chapter through verse 13 at least. Then prayerfully answer the following questions.

1. Slowly read verses 3 to 6 of chapter 1 again. What is already mine in Christ?

Verses 4 to 6 each mention something God has blessed you with. Write these down:

2. Look carefully at verses 7 to 12. What has God's grace (unearned good will) done for me?

What has He shown me in Jesus Christ?

3. Now study verses 13 and 14. When I believed God by receiving His Son, what did God do?

Can I lose my standing with God in Christ? (see Isaiah 43:13) Why or why not?

4. Read through the rest of the chapter. In verse 17, Paul prayed for wisdom and other things for the Ephesian Christians. List some of these things (verses 18,19):

What made it possible for me to have this position with God? (verses 20-23)

5. What do the first three verses of chapter 2 tell me about my standing with God and my actions BEFORE I became a new person in Christ?

6. Compare verses 4-7 with the 1-3 (question #5). What has God done for me in Christ?

Why has he done this for me?

7. Check into what verses 8-10 say about FAITH and WHAT I DO. Can anyone get to God by doing good things alone? Explain.

Why then must I do good works after I become a Christian?

8. The last verses to look at in this study are 11-13. Before Christ came, who were the only ones who had lasting hope?

What has Christ done, and how?

CONCLUSION:
1. Looking back through the verses that you just studied here, what thought most impressed you about your position in Christ?
2. Write down and meditate on this one thing during the coming week, and PRAY to thank God for this. (Write it down here if it helps)
